It's interesting that most of the reasons people would consider quite right and proper to refuse planning permission turn out to be, as Adam puts it, 'that isn't in itself a reason to refuse a planning application'.The system is complex and has become adapted and pushed into grey areas by the conflicting requirements of developers, commercial implications, policies, the local population and other interested parties. In the middle of it, with I believe final judgement is the planning department, but it too is influenced by LBH and now by LBH's Frankenstein property developing offshoot Lampton 360.What we need from councillors, in this order, are:A good pair of shoulders (too many slippery shoulders going on)BackboneTeethPolitical affiliation is way down the list. Personally I know a Jeremy Corbyn government would be an utter disaster and take us straight back to the hyper-borrowing, hyper-inflation, hyper-taxation of the 1970's (as the beetles sang, 'that's one for me, nineteen for you, because you're the taxman'). But I still like Guy as I believe he has shoulders and hopefully some nasty teeth hidden away somewhere. In general, Local Authorities are prime offenders in eroding the rule of the law and decent, honourable behaviour.
