More Labour bribes

I see Labour are now promising to dish out free bus travel to all under 25 year olds if elected to again buy their votesOf course the small print involves sacking all the bus companies first and transferring control to local Councils so will never happen just like their lies about writing off all student loans

A really stupid idea that wants to use the Road Tax to do it - what about repairing the potholes? Not to mention bringing back tax discs and getting in  some of the money they've lost with the potty idea of doing away with them? What is the reasoning of under 25s anyway?

The connection with "Road Tax" Vehicle Excise Duty and actual expenditure on the roads is a myth. VED has been treated as a general tax since the 1940's.

I think making the bus free for young people may help them not be put of taking a job because of the costs of travel - which can be a big factor, especially at the start of a career.

For some reason Labour has chosen this year to to increase the already generous council tax support that some residents receive from over 90% to the full 100%. Of course Labour did not find the additional £2m down the back of the sofa - this explains the need for around half of the 4% increase in our council tax.

I want to help people living on benefits (about £50 a week?). My problem with Labour is that the numbers are so opaque and cloaked in smoke and mirrors, that nobody has the foggiest clue what this help amounts to.I would guess that you pay 100% of your council tax and somewhere between 5% and 15% of that is used to subsidise people on benefits?

Strange how the playground in the estate just north of Syon park had a lot of work done on it in the few months before an election. Is it just coincidence, or is this an indirect and tactical "bribe" to prop up the comfortable and lazy Labour administration?Last election it was the pavements. The shame is that within a couple on months of re doing them, they were all dug up again because of re-doing the water pipes. Does nobody talk to anyone? *groan*

You just have to look at the demographics of the Borough and see which areas have been tarted up and money spent. Road resurfacing, street care, pavement care etc. It's not rocket science to see the 'you scratch my back and I'll scratch yours' mindset of this Council. If you are in an area that has gone downhill you have a weak councillor who is walked all over by the bullies.

This simply underlines the whole mess of politics.We, the electorate need to know exactly what is being done with our money.Just how many people are getting a 100% allowance ?What percentage of the borough population?What are the circumstances?It's fine if it's people who are residents and in dire circumstances.Not so if it's more random.But we ought to be told, clearly and honestly.Which of course won't be happening soon in this long warped borough.

Sounds similar to the national party. What with de-selections of moderate MPs and them being replaced by hard left Marxists. It is such a shame David Milliband lost. While I do not agree with everything he stood for, he is a sensible, smart chap. Now Labour are run by extremists. The Tories are doing the same and moving to the right by becoming the new UKIP. They KNEW about the Windrush thing for months but only acted when it went public. It will happen all over again with EU citizens. The Reds and the Blues are just so Toxic.
