Town Square put to good use

On the evening of Friday July 12th it was lovely to see the forecourt outside Verdict on Brentford's town square being put to good use. Over 60 people attended an informal fashion show organised by Naked Grain and hosted by Verdict with a full bar in operation. The weather was kind, and all the lovely first-time models threw themselves into their parade on the outdoors catwalk with smiles and style, there was some chilled music and the sound of chatter and laughter until 10 pm. Passers by and customers at La Rosetta stopped to look - and the clothes and jewellery were on sale after the parade. Just a pity that Naked Grain is up for sale. So with the chocolate shop closing their retail premises, the Indo-Portuguese restaurant closing it isn't looking like a good Summer for Brentford High Street

Shame about the Indo-Portuguese restaurant - it just never took off, probably due to the location.Where did you get the news the Naked Grain is up for sale? - hopefully as a business so will continue as is ...How do you know that the chocolate shop is closing?

notice in the window of the chocolate shop and the lease for Naked Grain is on the internet via a commercial estate agent - rent £17k + £30k premium to include the good will of Naked Grain with stock by separate negotiation.

Marcia from Naked Grain says this is outdated. She has no intention of going anywhere! But all our High Street traders depend on our support or they’ll go out of business, so - pop in! I love browsing in her shop for a great selection of cards, gifts, mirrors and now lovely clothes as well. There’s always something new.

Excellent cafes and restaurants too. Most people know La Rosetta but I also love Siracusa, Caspari, Albany Spice, Poppadums amongst others. Rye by the Water looks good but don't neglect Feather and Heart, Verdict, Time at the other end of the High Street all very good -try them!There's not so much retail in Brentford but it's excellent for eating and drinking out: too many outstanding pubs with diverse character to mention.

Thanks for the update Deborah - Marcia really needs to get the for sale listing removed - the interior shots of Naked Grain really do not do make it look like a place you would want it to visit and spend money in.

Great to see that the fountains are back in action in our town square, just in time for the heatwave. They are enjoyed by everyone who passes by - especially children and dogs! The fountains are maintained and operated by Verdict, not paid for at all by the Council, so thank you Verdict for getting them fixed.Can I also add to Guy Lambert's list of great places to eat in Brentford: Ferry Lounge  at Ferry Lane. open since May 2019. It is a small and friendly daytime cafe and restaurant/bar at night, the Lebanese food is fresh, delicious and reasonably priced.

"Excellent cafes and restaurants too."How nice to see Guy Lambert promoting Brentford as a destination. Destinations need parking. He approved that for Brentford. He rejects the concept in Chiswick. High Roads need to adapt as destinations to bring footfall. Chiswick councillors rejected the Brentford car park which seems to align with community opinion yet the man you elected left you in the lurch.
