Shop for Britain

Queues at TK Maxx on the Ivybridge shopping parade this morning stretching back up Mogden Lane, what a way for Boris to distract people from the absolute sh*tstorm going on in the country. What's the point in buying new clothes when there's still nowhere to go?

Primark stores have long queues too.  I can't understand it. How would this lot have managed during WW2? New clothes were on hold for 5 years.

A pregnant Mother who is due soon and couldn't get any baby clothes online as most retailers were out of stock.So it was a must she got some today.

It baffles me, not so much the part about social distancing and such like, but the fundamental attraction in going to somewhere like Primark or Nike on the very day such shops have reopened.It's bad enough the notion of going to Alton Towers on the hottest day of the year during the summer holidays, but at least then there's the defence that you're taking the kids and they are at school during term-time so your options are limited.People holding their Primark bags up for the press to take photos as though they've just won Euromillions or such like.  Then again, they're probably the same people who see nothing 'worrying' about Peter Crouch hosting a TV show at peak Saturday evening time - how much 'dumber' can society get ?.

Peter Crouch, absolutely lovely guy who frequents a number of favourite restuarants on Pitshanger Lane, Ealing, would probably be the first to admit that he is no 'TV star' but his podcasts are very funny and he has one of the best football quotes ever.When asked "what would you be if you weren't a professional footballer", he replied "a virgin".

We need people to shop for the VAT. However it does not look like petrol will rise in price too quickly according to BP. Will there be a scrappage scheme for people to buy new diesel cars as the dealers want?

Petrol has already risen in price it was 99p a week or so ago, it is now £102.9 in Tesco, and I thought that any deal re new cars was so that we'd buy electric. As the economy is likely to tank what with Covid and then the disastrous Brexit crash out, a lot of jobs will go, so not sure who will have all this money to buy electric cars.

No the dealears have asked for scrappage to buy new petrol and diesel. I thought I had misread but its right.

Each to their own, but Crouch and many other 'celebrities' make me recall one particular line from a Pet Shop Boys song, namely "you've both made such a little go a very long way" (which doesn't apply to the PSB I should add).

I think there will be some unpleasant surprises (even before no deal Brexit!)'I suppose it is part of what they call 'the human condition' to imagine things will always happen to someone else and not you, but I agree I think a lot of jobs will just disappear and I think that's evident already. The government are hell bent on leaving the EU at the end of this year - when common sense dictates that with Covid hitting us, a review of this would have been eminently sensible. They have concentrated on this regardless of all else - probably explains their woeful performance during the pandemic - as someone said this week the ERG is the Tory party - and the Tory party is the ERG - and  all they are obsessed with is Brexit at all costs - and it will be a huge cost to our economy.

No deal Brexit and Nissan will go. I would think airbus would soon follow. Some people even thought Renault could take up spare production space, with the French Gov owning 12% of Renault not a chance. Peugeot now owns Vauxhall and there have been rumblings there. So you are right, SOME UNPLEASANT SURPRISES !!!!
