What do I do with old recycling container?

Received 2 new recycling boxes yesterday, thank you.  How do I dispose of the broken ones?  Can I leave them on top of the household bin for collection?Sx

Cant find the answer to this question, on line.  Can I put the broken boxes on top of my household bin, for collection next week?

I had a look at the website a few weeks ago when wondering whether to try to get my garden-waste bin changed. They claim they will collect old ones. Maybe tape a note to the broken ones?Actually, I'd be interested to hear how you get on. There's only so much duct tape a bin can take.

Ask your helpful local Lead Cllr Guy - he's in charge of all things rubbish and recycling.

I can’t find anything on the web site and trying to work my way to sending an enquiry involves a lot more concentration than I would like to apply.  Will stick a note on the boxes and put them on top of the wheelie bin this week and let you know how I get on.

@WestFour had numerous tweets about his problems trying to dispose of boxes in December going on for several weeks.I thought I had emailed Guy asking what the method should be - but, unusually, as I didn't get a response, perhaps I hadn't sent it.My old boxes were so far gone that it didn't take much to break them in two and over two collections they fitted inside each other inside the standard wheelie bin with a rubbish sack on top of them.....

They won't be going to landfill if that is your worry.

Apologies to Tim if I didn't reply. The spirit is willing but occasionally the flesh (or brain) lets me down.Officers tell me:"When ordering replacement boxes online we advise on the form that we will collect the damaged boxes. However, the boxes need to be left out all the time as we cannot guarantee when we will deliver the replacement boxes.If they were left out clearly visible, then they should have been collected. If they were not then they can be taken to Space Waye or alternative site.We cannot collect them as household rubbish."I confirm they will not go to landfill, whatever happens.

Guy.  Can I drop them off at the trade entrance or do I have to book a slot for the main recycling side?Cheers.

I think you need to book a slot. I did so a week or so ago - dead easy.
