It seems to me you'd need to be a bit 'thick skinned' to be a Councillor or at least be able to live with a certain amount of criticism (hostility, even) coming your way. Decisions needs to be made and one thing's for sure - you can't please everybody.

I am no fan or defender of the current council, but what I would say about Cllr. Lambert is, that he is approachable and he is one of the (very) few councillors who answers his e-mails. And what's more he just doesn't take the easy and lazy option of just forwarding a constituent's e-mail to some random officer to get a response as many do - he takes the trouble to get the answer and respond himself. As Anne has said, you can't please all of the people all of the time, but credit where it is due.

I agree with that.  Don't always understand his stance on many things but he is a diligent and active local councillor unlike one of his other ward councillors who avoids all contact with her electorate.

Agree with comments re Guy Lambert. I too have found him to be helpful. Sorry to say although if I have a problem/query I always email all three of our local councillors, Guy is the only to answer and solve the problem.

I agree. Any time I have written to Guy (most recently about the massacre at Boston Manor park and also recycling) he has always responded. Whether we agree with Council actions is a separate issue.

To be fair there was a better idea kicking around to have that block adorned with replica iconic neon signs of which there were many adorning industrial Brentford.The list is quite long and varied from Trico and Firestone to Fiat, Pyrenne Lucozade, all had natty mean signs.Made as a montage it could look fantastic if done authentically and not like that debacle of of retro Sign which is palmed of as the 'original' Lucozade sign in the Gunnersbury Museum. - Which is nothing like the original neon or the larger one that adorned the top of Beecham House.

The Lucozade sign at Gunnersbury Museum as far as I'm aware is the original, though clearly it is just the 'Lucozade' not the 'Aids recovery' or the pouring bottle picture.The Car park will eventually have flats on one side, a boat house on another and raised panels on two others.I didn't think much of the raised panels when they were shown to me and suggested that something a bit more memorable and distinct would be good to mark the approach to Brentford town centre, such as the (full original) Lucozade sign.Ballymore didn't think this was viable and in any case they gave me the 'award winning architect' argument.If they had built the whole thing in the first place rather than half-building it then painting it many months later  it would not be the eyesore it has been and to many eyes remains, though it will never be the Palace of Versailles.I don't know where Raymond's idea was 'kicking around'. It's the first I've heard of it.

I know nothing about architecture, art or design - but nothing - absolutely nothing, on the face of the Earth could improve that revolting, ugly car park in Brentford. It is an eyesore.

Considering they didn’t have planning permission for the car park but successfully got it granted retrospectively indicates that planning in Hounslow isn’t really interested in retaining the character of Brentford.Regardless of whether it’s going to have flats at the side and a boathouse it is still dire.And answering emails is one thing, action is another. I wonder what Cllr Lambert thinks about the way Gunnersbury Bowls Club is being forced out of its site?

Ballymore had outline planning permission for the car park. They should have secured full permission before starting building it but the fact of the car park was approved back in 2015, before i was even elected.I have devoted a lot of energy and electronic ink to the matter of the Gunnersbury Park Bowls green, including brokering a meeting between the two sides in the hope of reaching an amicable solution.As I am on the planning committee it is not appropriate to say any more (because I am obliged to enter any planning meeting without a preconceived view - I do not currently have one, other than that there are arguments for and against)

Outline planning is not full permissions, as you say. But Brentford is stuck with its carbuncle now, at least for the 20 years of its lifespan.With regard to the Bowls Club, it’s very obvious that they we bring unsubtly eased out by the simple method of allowing the facility to fall into disrepair. The fact that signs promoting the golf facility in its place speaks volumes about the agendaYou might well be on the planning committee but are any councillors actually arguing the case for the bowls club? It seems not, and that’s a dereliction if the first duty of any councillor.

There is a wall of silence from several councillors and a conflict of interest with a few. But the biggest conflict appears to be the complete and total contradiction of Councils own policy in a report written by a key Hounslow Cabinet Councillor.But the flawed set ip of this CIC running Gunnersbury and the exclusion of solid, genuine and capable local people in its Governance is the worrying factor.Too many mates and connected types.
