Well, it’s not cheap, but the seats are top-notch and screens a decent size, good film selection too, not too many of the boneheaded multiplex films too, but it’s a bit like arriving at a new cult centre, the overly enthusiastic staff jumping up in front of the screen, clapping their hands about how happy they are for you to be there, and would you like any food champagne or a membership? Pretty bizarre new American style sales pitch modem I guess. But I can’t blame them because the overheads must be huge and I don’t see too many people going.One thing I’ve noticed is the folks sitting there having huge meals and drinks look to me like they’re actually staff members, who’ve got not much to do and go there for lunch/dinner and a movie. Plus outside of movie club type places, all cinemas show at least 20 mins trailers - just turn up 20 min after start time and you’ll arrive for the welcome speech only.
