5G NETWORKS

Has anyone bought a 5G phone yet? Will it be a case of wait and see? I myself feel £1000.00 for a phone is too much and would prefer to get a new laptop and still have change for another 4G  android phone.

GEOFFREY COLLINS r.i.p

Just in case anyone knew a Geoffrey Collins of Grove Park Chiswick.   This elderly gentleman of some 90+ years recently passed away on his own in an Ealing Hospital.   His cremation will be held at Mortlake Crematorium, off the South Circular in Kew at 1.15pm this Friday 28th June.Geoffrey was a very private man, and rather a loner his brother and later a sister had both died.   Geoffrey was an avid classical music devotee and an ardent Philatelist.   He had an abiding interest in stamps and ran a club? society? for many years until he became too frail, he passed his duties onto others but continued to sort stamps.   A male friend used to visit once a week to help him with this but eventually Geoffrey became too frail so that too stopped.   I wanted any old acquaintances and friends to know of Geoffrey's passing so if anyone can help please do so.

Brentford Lock West Keelson Gardens

Just seen a video about this development. Puts Nice, Monaco and Venice to shame. Rowing on the beautiful canal etc. Beautiful Fench bread, olives to die for. Wonderful streets with pubs on the corner. On top of it they are giving thousands towards your mortgage for three months. PARADISE HAS ARRIVED!

CPZ consultation in Isleworth Worple Rd. area Isleworth

A lot of us received letters this week regarding a full CPZ proposal which emanates from a request from a residents association in Isleworth to extend the current RFU CPZ arrangements. This is due to excessive parking in their area. Fair enough, however - the letter was ambiguous and poorly written and you could be forgiven for thinking it didn't apply to many of us. Whether that was done deliberately to discourage negative responses who knows? Talking to neighbours it is clear that quite a few read the letter and concluded it didn't apply to us, only to the smaller area in Old Isleworth that is the subject of the opening two paragraphs. But read on.............At the moment we are covered by the RFU scheme which of course is free, a full CPZ on the other hand, covering a much larger area will mean lots of wonga for Hounslow, plus paying for visitor permits. Personally I don't think we have need of this and will respond accordingly - but I do think whatever your view you should take part in this preliminary consultation.www.hounslow.gov.uk/consultations or 'phone 020 8583 3322 for a paper questionnaire.

There are places available open to both girls and boys at 6th Brentford troop for scouts, beavers and cubs. Waterman's development & Secretary of State

Very recently I'm sure I read that the Secretary of State was now considering how the Waterman's site should be developed.  Has anyone else seen this?   It may have to do with the Historical Society and Kew Gardens - there was an outcry about any proposed new development of that Waterman's site with high rise flats would prevent and despoil the views across the river both to and from Kew Gardens and both those organisations became heavily involved.   They were not concerned about any new Waterman's Art Centre - it was the mere size and bulk of the proposed luxury flats hogging the riverside.   IMO the Art's Centre is a dead duck - it will not happen either on the existing site or in the  concrete block planned on the old police station site.

Contaminated recycling - food in this case

Explanation urgently needed - Cllr Guy Lambert would be a start.  I have been informed that the recycling crews are instructed to take ALL food waste in the green caddies even if it is in ordinary supermarket plastic bags.   Please explain again what happens when this food waste is tipped out of the recycling lorry back at the Hounslow depot.   Are there "sorters" there who carefully remove these apparently contaminated bags and then what happens?   What about the special (and expensive) light green compostable bags, are they truly biodegradable and quickly rot down once in the soil?   I read somewhere that there is now doubt over these bags too.   Should we all start to wrap all food waste in newspaper?   If so we shall need larger food caddies as this makes for very bulky "packages" after every meal. While on the subject, can we be re-assured than NONE OF HOUNSLOW'S PLASTICS are sent overseas?

Travellers invade old High Street Car Park

Reports that around 20 vehicles now parked up in the old High Street Car Park.  They broke in, closed the gates and secured them with a heavy bolt and chain. I saw several of the youths causing trouble in Morrison's yesterday - be wary if out and about today.

We are advised that this is likely due to the large-scale set-up for the Junction 2 music event, taking place on the 7-8 June. Organisers have been using power generators and heavy goods vehicles to set up for the event, giving rise to large-scale dust. Population Control

Education is key to this in particular education for girls.Children need to aspire to achieving in school so that they have better choices when they leave.  Early years are so important so that small children arrive at school ready and able to learn.  The first two years of life learning to communicate and building up a good vocabulary is the way forward to learning self-expression - and it is good to be able to do it with words.   Please everyone talk to your children and grandchildren and young young family and friends.  This early time learning time cannot be recovered later and the frustrations of not being able to communicate with words may spill out in other ways.Forward facing buggies, mobile phones, and other screens eg TV are big distractions   and you will find messages at schools and nurseries reminding parents and carers to  greet children with a smile and not a mobile phone!

Alfa Laval/Brentford Nylons Tower

Does anyone know the current state of play for the re-use and refurbishment of this building? I see that detailed planning permission was granted on 17 January 2017 for the use of the building as a 180-bed hotel and 4,667 square metres of offices. Other buildings were permitted in the same decision notice but it's not clear which, if any, of these form part of the already completed development (the dwellings, Premier Inn etc.) within the old Baltic Centre site.When I went along to a presentation, by Hunter Page Planning, at the Novotel in about September 2015 I got the impression that the plan at that time was for Hyundai to use the tower as their flagship showroom and offices. Is this still the intention?Whatever the precise plans I wonder if there is any indication of a timetable for the refurbishment. Alfa-Laval moved to Camberley in about 1996 and the tower has been derelict since then. It's high time for this eyesore to be given a makeover and for the advertising hoardings to be removed.  As an aside, it may be that about 137 housing units have already been built on the old Baltic Centre (which is now called Westside and includes Baltic Avenue). These were originally described as a mix of private and "affordable" homes and when they first went on the market in 2015 prices began at £310,000. I see from Zoopla that the average price in Baltic Avenue has been £535,000 and a 4-bed unit recently went for £795,000.
