Code Club at Acton & Ealing Central Library

Latest Tory leaflet....

Personally addressed and delivered via the post arrived today. Although it mentioned my name twice and the constituency there was no mention of their local candidate . The word conservative featured twice. Once in a web address and once in tiny print at the bottom with the publisher/printer name. It was all about Ms weak and wobbly and brexit, with a few digs at the opposition. There is a plea about how a loss of just six seats would lose Theresa's majority.....Err, who called this election and why? Finally there is a tear off slip at the bottom to help me 'Plan my vote on 8th June' This is an idiots guide presumably aimed either at new voters or those so old they have failed the NHS Dementia Test. I am not at all comfortable with this presidential style of campaigning, it is all about me, me, me with no hint of local democracy......

?Sparrow hawk

There appears to be a bird of prey nesting on one of the balconies on the south facing side of one of the Brentford Towers. I think it might be a sparrow hawk. It's been there for a few days now. Has anyone else seen/heard it, preferably with more knowledge and binoculars!

What the hell is going on..?

I refer to the two stories on the home page about the recent incident outside Boston Park involving youths attacking Police and the even  more worrying one about a group of young thugs attacking three people who challenged them about vandalising cars in Twicjkenham. What would make a man stamp on a woman's head whilst she was unconscious on the ground after being knocked down? 30 months (probably 15 in reality) hardly seems enough for what I would call attempted murder.The mind boggles as to where we will be in 20 years time..

Guy Lambert, can you help? Drinking in a no-drinking zone in Albany Road for the last 3 years

Almost every day (weather permitting) - behind the Royal Horse Guardsman Pub - they are out there - drinking illegally in plain site and in front of cameras. Have called 101 (along with neighbours) over 50 times on this over the years - the minute I am back from work - they are there - sometimes if my shift starts in the PM - I can see them there drinking even in the morning. They hide the cans alcohol behind them in the undergrowth and between cans go into Corals opposite to place bets throughout the day. Guy, can you solve this for us? There is also plenty of broad daylight drug dealing in the exact same spot - also reported to police constantly by the residents. This activity creates a highly negative atmosphere which helps give the impression that this street is 'anything goes'and its blatant nature encourages further crime.Here they are. Bodycams

A police officer suffered a broken nose in Brentford recently. His bodycam  was snatched off of his lapel and the essential evidence has been lost? Why can't bodycams be viewed at all times in the same way that cctv data can be. If not then bodycams have been a very expensive failure as sadly this could well happen again.

Saw a bunch of the them in groups of 4 down Albany Road clutching 1000s of Ruth Cadbury leaflets. They ignored all the terraces and just went straight for the estates across the road.It's going to be interesting!

Guy Lambert's environmental disaster

Huge 'thanks' to the Labour Party for closing Church Street against the massive majority of voters who wanted it to remain open. I wonder if Guy Lambert and his despotic cronies have stopped to hang their heads in shame at the total environmental mess they have caused or if they are actually proud of themselves. Traffic is now backed up from the A316 up Twickenham Road to the London Road. Yesterday my wife was 50 minutes late for an appointment at West Middx Hospital because of the traffic."no problem"  said the hospital staff. "Everyone is now regularly late for appointments as well as the medical staff because of the increased traffic." Rat runners are now using St Margarets Road to avoid Twickenham Road andc causing chaos in South Street and those stuck in Twickenham Road are now rat-running through Worton Road, St John's Road and Linkfield Road. The additional pollution is another story. Well done Labour Party. Your mission to destroy the Borough and maintain the status of 'most rotten borough in London', is a huge success. God help us if this lot of baffoons  are elected to run the country

St Paul's gives Cadbury a right pasting

I see our MP Ruth Cadbury was loitering at St Paul's School gates today, and with a crew from the BBC in tow. A very balanced piece has since aired on London News.But for those actually there it was all rather different. Mrs C was thoroughly put in her place for her less than supportive stance on the redevelopment plans for Morrison’s, and which are a great concern to many St Paul's parents. There was also an astounding absence of decorum from our rather unrepentant MP, as she faced off to at least one of the parents. Good manners 2, Mrs Cadbury 0.They think it's all over. At least come Friday, it will be....

Why don't Labour want to discuss their own manifesto?

This is just one issue that I have sent questions about and not had a reply.With apologies and thanks to the poster who I have pasted this from ( for speed) but it is checked & accurate.It's bad enough with Tories being less than clear about how and who will lose out but it seems Labour are being just as shifty. And yet it's there clearly printed in the manifesto.So why won't anyone discuss it/ It will affect almost every home owner in Brentford, Chiswick and Isleworth.On page 86 of its manifesto Labour raises the prospect of a Land Value Tax (LVT):"A Labour government will give local government extra funding next year. We will initiate a review into reforming council tax and business rates and consider new options such as a land value tax, to ensure local government has sustainable funding for the long term."I did the calculation for my house.  My current council tax is £2,270.  Under Labour's LVT proposals this would go up to £5,890, a rise of £3,620 or 160%.  It would be excruciating for my family.  Finding £3,620 out of an already reduced after tax income would effectively mean the end of holidays or a move to a smaller property.  It is quite easy to do this calculation for yourself.  Get your property value off Zoopla.  Multiply by 0.55 to get an estimate of the value of the undeveloped land.  Multiply 0.0085 to get the tax you would pay.  The rate of 0.85% comes from proposers of the tax themselves.  It is no good Labour claiming that this is scaremongering.  They have raised the proposal and stated the rate.  We know it has to be a large amount because they themselves are presenting it as a get out of free jail card for local government finance. Here is a mechanism that will allow Labour to pump vast funds into its local government clients without affecting headline tax rates for regular people.  The 1%ers will pay!  Unfortunately that means anyone who has struggled to buy a property in London.

To the gentleman who: - picked up my wallet that had fallen from my cyclist's pocket on Heathfield Terrace in Chiswick this afternoon- worked out my address, come to my flat and poked a scrap of paper with his phone number in the door jamb. This caused me to check my pockets. aghast.- offered to deliver said wallet to my door (I declined and insisted on picking it up - he'd done enough)- returned the wallet to me untouched, with a smile.Good old-fashioned British honesty, from a foreign-born (from his accent) minicab driver with a brown skin and a heart of gold.
