Sewerage smell near Kew Bridge

Apologies if this has already been mentioned but I was wondering if anyone knew anything about the sewerage smell by the bus stop outside Sainsburys local by Kew Bridge- it seems to be a persistent problem and wondered if anyone knew whether anyone was doing anything about it?

This coming Tuesday marks the end of the government's consultation on the regulation of newspapers. If 'section 40' of the Crime and Courts Act 2013 is implemented it will be a black day for investigative journalism, not to mention democracy. Max Mosley son of the fascist  Oswald, is funding 'Impress' which could mean they oversee the press, and many of the appalling fiddles that newspapers have brought to public attention will be no more if this is allowed to go ahead.Newspapers don't always get it right but gagging a truly free press is the sort of thing going on in Turkey and Russia.Tell the government how you feel about the implementation of section 40 and the suitability of Impress as a regulator atwww.freethepress.co.uk

Brentford Library...

not to open till after the New Year, we are told in headline item here and the TW8 Newsletter. This would be new year 2018, presumably because that would make total sense. How long has it been now? Two months? "Three ceilings need to be replaced". A child of five with a ladder could have figured this out Day One. Sheesh. Hark! What's that noise? Fred Turner, Nowell Parr and Andrew Carnegie - spinning in their graves.

Age UK is a brilliant organisation for helping you to find out how you can help your elderly relatives and friends get some of the help that they need.  Remember many are not computer literate and it is becoming harder and harder to find people who will give their time.  There may even be a class at Age UK in computer literacy or learning how to use your i-pad.Please teach your Granny/Grandad to text so that it is easier to keep in touch with them.  Fast moving technology is a challenge for just about everyone and most of all for those who have never used the internet and cannot access the shopping and information that is readily accessible to those who can.  Big button phones and phones where the volume can be increased are also useful.Also remember that memory is multi-sensory and so those eye appointments and hearing appointments are very important - and some are initiated by the hospital and some aren't.  You may need the help of someone else to help a parent get used to using a hearing aid. Action on Hearing Loss may help if they have any volunteers... Search out those long lost friends so that they can talk about their childhood memories... when they used to wave at the cars there were so few and don't forget to phone and send Christmas cards that say more than "love from xxx" that elicit the response "oh - so you're still alive then" so that if necessary your news can be read and read again! Try to stay in touch - it's easier when you communicate.

Westminster can social  find housing - LBH can't

( Independent)Westminster City Council is planning on moving some of the estimated 4,400 households on its housing waiting list to 24 new one- and two-bed flats it intends to purchase in Hounslow town centre, 11 miles away. The decision has prompted suggestions that poorer people are intentionally being moved away from the area. Hounslow Council Leader Steve Curran says the move came as a surprise, adding: “We’ve got our own housing crisis; we don’t need to deal with anyone else’s. What we are concerned about is the pressure it puts on our other services, such as schools and the health service, as we haven’t got a clue who they are going to send here”. However, Westminster Council claimed it had discussed the purchase of the properties with Hounslow Council “on an open and ongoing basis.”

Hounslow Council to put up council tax next year...

To hear that Hounslow council want to put up council tax has annoyed me, I have seen nothing but major development in Brentford for the last few years and even more development planned for the next few years.  For every additional property the council gain some additional revenue through the council tax they can collect.This is new revenue so why the increase?  Is Hounslow getting greedy?  Is there something I do not know.  Please enlighten me if you know?
